Walking options

Once ashore at Anchorage, pick the walk that suits your time and fitness — all three return you in plenty of time for the boat.

Te Pukatea Bay

2 km return · 1 hour · 60m max elevation

A gentle walk through native forest to one of Abel Tasman's most picturesque bays. The sheltered cove and crystal-clear water make it the perfect place for a swim before returning to Anchorage.

Recommended

Pitt Head Loop

Includes Te Pukatea Bay

4 km return · 1.5 hours · 80m max elevation

Extend your Te Pukatea walk with this loop. Climb through Mānuka forest to the historic Māori Pā site at Pitt Head before descending to Te Pukatea Bay, with sweeping coastal views along the way. Our recommendation if you have 90 minutes ashore.

Cleopatra's Pool

4 km return · 1.5 hours · 165m max elevation

Follow the track around the Torrent Bay estuary to this crystal-clear freshwater pool, complete with a reclining rock known as Cleopatra. A refreshing detour on warmer days.

Beautiful part of the coast

A simple way to see more of Abel Tasman and still feel like the day had enough structure. The scenery was the highlight.
